Extremely good preserved in nearly stone mint condition Army officer dagger made by famous manufacturer Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. Dagger as mentioned above is in stunning condition without any damages or serious signs of use and age. Blade has its full crossgrain and shape and Eickhorn marked. Scabbard without any dents in deep age patina. Handle dark orange. Crossguard early type 2 - highly detailed and in deep patina. Dagger comes with portepee and hangers. The item pictured is a German Wehrmacht (Heer) officer's dagger, model 1935. It was a part of the dress uniform, worn by officers as a symbol of status during parades and ceremonies, not a weapon intended for combat. The dagger, model 1935, was approved by the Army High Command (OKH) on May 4, 1935. All officers, generals, military officials of officer rank (e.g., doctors, veterinarians), and non-commissioned officers from the rank of Feldwebel (sergeant) and above had the right to wear it. It was mandatory to wear it with the dress uniform during state ceremonies, parades, weddings, official receptions, and also during leave.
